So we have been shopping at the Shops At Wailea since the place was built. Over the years we have spent thousands of dollars at this place. We frequently bring our out of town guests here to eat, as well as to shop. I never had to pay for parking here before. After a 3 hour visit here with my family, the machine said it would cost $18.00. Wow! Really??? I did a poll with several of the stores we stopped in today and some would validate with a $35 minimum purchase (and would only give you an hour validation), and others wouldn’t validate with any amount (even at a designer clothing store). The Coffee Bean and Tea has been a frequent stop of ours during the week, but now no longer because they aren’t able to validate (at no fault of their own). This simply isn’t right and is a prime example of the greed many of the Maui businesses have. I just don’t agree with the principle of this whole concept of having to pay to park at a local shopping mall. Guess they won’t be getting much of my business in the future, even though I’m sure I would spend enough to sometimes get a validation, and could even afford to pay the price to park. But I simply do not agree with their greedy concept of trying to gouge more money out of our tourist that visit our beautiful island, as well as for Maui residents. Wow.
